Imagine a time when narcissists were honest!
Imagine a time when narcissists said what they really thought and felt!
Oh my – can you imagine? The world would continue to go back to normal but the narcissist’s world would fall apart!
Narcissists keep secrets and lie on purpose, they don’t just do it because they feel like it.
It’s important to understand why they lie by highlighting the things they would say if they were actually honest.

AreNarcissistsEverHonest?!
Raise your hand if you’ve been with an honest narcissist.
Hello?
Is anyone out there…?
I didn’t think so.
That’s because they thrive on a bed of lies, while you’re barely surviving.
HonestyBringsTruth
No narcissist wants to reveal the truth, which is why they can’t be honest.
The truth will get you out, so what?
They don’t have anyone to suck the life out of!
10 Things Narcissists Will Say If They’re Honest
- “I hate you!”
Look, as much as you may not want to admit it, a narcissist loves to tell you how much they genuinely hate you.
They don’t love you for various reasons, but pretending can be off the charts.
Convincing you that they love you works hand in hand with the occasional displays of affection they give.
When they go back to the discarding or devaluing stages of the abuse cycle, you’re waiting for the next time you’re brought back to a false state of loving security.
If they’re being completely honest, they’ll tell you that they hate you.
They’re not saying it because they need you more than they’d like to admit.
- “I never loved you”
You’ve heard it a million times, and they’ll even get angry if you say you don’t feel love for them.
I’m trying my best to show you that I love you and that’s not good enough for you!
I put myself out there for you, and you throw it in my face!
I took you to the city for a weekend and a five-star show, and you think I don’t love you?!
Narcissists think that showing love means throwing money at something or simply telling you they love you.
People can use all the words they want, but unless it’s tied to love, respect, and loyalty, saying “I love you” means absolutely nothing.
If they had the chance to speak without lying, they would tell you that they never loved you. It was all an act to get something from you.
And yes, it hurts. It’s supposed to hurt.
- “You make me disgustingly jealous”
Anything you have that a narcissist wants, they will be jealous of.
A better job than theirs?
Are you in better shape than them?
More confident?
Do you have a natural zest for life?
Are you confident?
More money?
Do you have a genuine, caring charm?
All of these things would drive a narcissist crazy.
Do you know how long they have to work to get a fraction of what you just wrote, or how much they have to pretend to get a little respect from others?
Narcissists are always jealous of people who are more successful in whatever aspect of their lives they are.
Instead of using a healthy, natural dose of envy to inspire them to follow a similar path, they feel it is necessary to destroy your happiness.

Narcissists can drown out the sunniest days, turning blue skies gray. Their presence can drain the energy of a room almost instantly.
If they are honest with you, they will admit it.
- “I don’t like one part of myself”
I would love to hear a narcissist be very honest about this part of themselves, because those of us who really know them know that they can’t stand the person they are.
To hear a narcissist say these things means that they are leaning into a very vulnerable side that they have never shown anyone before.
This side of the narcissist will never be revealed because they are too busy trying to pretend they are perfect so you won’t doubt them.
They are too busy denying reality – because it just acts as a problem they know they can’t fix.
- “I’m afraid of intimacy”
If you knew this about narcissists, you would know that all their rejection wasn’t because of you.
You should know this already, but you won’t because they will make excuses, or blame you for trying to be too needy.
Eventually, you will convince yourself that this is actually true and you will see the fault in your relationship with them.
Narcissists are afraid of intimacy. They hate the idea of giving their hearts away and risking hurting them.
Although they love sex, they hate letting the guard down around their hearts.
- “I’m not who you think I am”
Haha! I mean. I’m actually laughing as I write this because I imagine a narcissist with his head bowed, admitting he’s a narcissist.
If they were honest, they would say that.
But they’re not!
- “I’m studying you to manipulate you”
Watching you, sniffing out your fears, asking you questions that lead to your secrets being revealed – this is all about studying you and knowing you better than you think you know yourself.
If you knew this from the start, you wouldn’t have to go through all the annoying, irritating episodes they go through.
- “I’m here to play games and spoil you!”
Run!
Run fast!
That’s what you’re going to do, right? You’ll be out of there faster than you can say “red flag!”
But they don’t make it easy for us. Instead, they stick around and prey on our insecurities.

The real reason they came into your life is far from loving you or wanting to appreciate you forever. And while it hurts to realize that, it hurts even more because you get angry at falling for these games.
- “Don’t believe a word I say”
How many of you would be saved if the narcissist just said, “Look, you know what? I’ll tell you bad things, but you shouldn’t believe them because they’re not true. It makes me feel better.”
- “I’m so insecure”
They’ll drop the phrase on the floor afterward if they mumble it. Narcissists are insecure, but you won’t find a single person who will admit it.
Their insecurities are masked by braggadocio and cruelty, and that will never change.
