Ideally, we would all want narcissists to wear the following shirt:
I’m a Narcissist, Get Off!
Unfortunately, we’re left with learning the art of narcissism before we can begin to spot them for ourselves, and a lot of people just pass by without noticing.
You’ll notice that a lot of the information you’ll find out there is directly related to male narcissists only, but I want to change things up a bit.
Female narcissists do exist, and they work hard to differentiate themselves from the males.
If you want to be able to spot the top 10 signs of female narcissism, I’ve got you covered.
OhTheyReallyExist…
You think they don’t exist – but I’m here to tell you that they do…
…I’ve met more than my fair share!
Recognizing Female Narcissism
Recognizing female narcissism may not come quickly or naturally to you, because females tend to be:
The softer sex
The most understanding
The most patient
The most empathetic
The least likely to be swept up in negativity
In general, females are seen as the most capable of holding it all together, and the most vulnerable to any kind of abuse in personal relationships.
Why They’re Hard to Spot
Well, for these very reasons, female narcissists hide in public.
You can’t tell them apart from the crowd, because they operate in more covert ways than their male counterparts.
10 Signs of Female Narcissism
- They’re More Secretive
Cunning is the middle name of most female narcissists. They’re so good at pretending to be normal, it’s almost scary.
What’s different from male narcissists is their ability to disguise themselves so they can get in their victims for longer.
In fact, most people don’t discover covert narcissism for much longer, sometimes taking years.
Do you know how much damage a person can do in that amount of time, and how much abuse they can endure?
Women play nice and honest in the face of their covert narcissism, and you’d be surprised how many people not only believe it, but also consider them great friends.
- They’re good at playing the victim
Narcissistic women often portray themselves as incomprehensible, pulling out the victim card to gain sympathy from people – both those they know and those they don’t.
What comes with gaining sympathy? Well, there’s validation, support, and feeling “seen.”
Do you think any narcissist needs more of that?! I don’t! However, toxic females have it all too easy, and it all amounts to much-needed supply.
- They Know It All
Men don’t usually study narcissism unless they’ve been directly affected by someone who fits all the criteria.

I’m speaking very generally here, but no man will willingly sit down and read or watch something in detail to learn about it unless he has to or wants to.
Narcissism is well known to everyone – but the complex turns that the entire personality disorder takes are completely unknown to them.
Women, on the other hand, are known for their desire to know about behaviors, emotions, and relationships.
They tend to understand the difference between men and women more, and look for ways to support that.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a major concern for covert narcissists. If they can study and learn about it, they can also learn to overcome it and overcome any doubt.
This makes female covert narcissists difficult to spot in society!
Doesn’t that make you sick?
- The Woman Card
I’m a woman, and this isn’t happening to me – it’s happening to me!
Well, statistically speaking, yes. Women are more likely to be abused and to be victims in abusive relationships…
… but…
Let’s not pretend that female narcissists don’t exist – because they do!
Women can play the card and pretend to be the nice guy. The one who’s suffering and so brave and going through all these horrible things – but that’s nothing more than a dangerous lie.
No – female narcissists are not victims, but also, by lying that they are, they’re disrespecting the real victims of female abuse.
- The gut feeling that something’s not right
There’s always an “unnatural” energy when you’re around someone who’s not good for you. I can’t explain it any better than this:
Sometimes, your body reacts to the presence of another person before your mind allows you to realize it.
That’s what it feels like when you’re around a narcissistic woman. The kindness seems sweeter than usual, to the point where it bothers you.
And you’d be an idiot if you spoke up and said something, wouldn’t you? I mean, everyone seems to love her.
- Overly emotional
Men’s emotions are naturally more reserved or limited, and narcissistic men will refuse to go to the positive extremes that women do.
You may find that female narcissists tend to laugh more, or get excited. They will happily share news and act happy, as if they want everyone to share their news.
Similarly, when it comes to negative emotions, you will see tears – and lots of them.
Female narcissists will cry a lot, and what happens when people cry? They get sympathy! Hugs. Shoulders to cry on. Ears to listen to.
They get attention.
This is what they love to do, and they play on the fact that emotions are seen as easier for women to express.
- Petty Bouncing
Female narcissists will pick up every little thing and wave it in your face. Things can get almost spiteful with them, as they care about everything that doesn’t matter.
It’s a toxic way of trying to find drama where there really isn’t any, and they will do this by involving you as much as they can.
If anything, petty bouncing is hostile, and it stirs up conflict in people who are otherwise perfectly fine and having a good day.
Narcissists are generally obsessed with details, and the minute details are often picked apart and hung out to dry in this petty, almost childish way.
- Users? Yes!
Female narcissists will use you until there is nothing left to extract.
Once that happens, you can say goodbye to her because she will move on to her next partner or best friend.
There is no loyalty, only motivation.
- Sex as a weapon
While men go for love bombing – females use sex bombing!
Toxic women usually understand what attracts male attention, and they resort to this love language to attract them and keep them hooked over time.
- Shy or reserved on the outside
Oh, isn’t that cute?
Don’t I make you feel warm inside?
Stop it now please…!
These women are sweet and sick on purpose.
“If I can be the opposite of who I really am, that’s how I project my fake charm to the world.”
It’s not all about cars, hobbies and compliments like it might be with men.
It’s more about favors, over-the-top offers of help, or the humble “Oh my God, I mean I’m so surprised” attitude when she wins something or is voted the best performer at work.
It’s a classic tool to be seen, noticed, and appreciated for something she can’t really be.
