It’s interesting how happiness, a basic human aspiration, seems so elusive to so many people. With society’s focus on the outward signs of success, it’s easy to lose sight of the inner traits that can sometimes sabotage our pursuit of joy.
The journey to true happiness is deeply personal, yet I’ve noticed certain patterns in those who struggle to find it. These aren’t definitive rules, but rather common characteristics I’ve observed in people who struggle with their sense of happiness.
In the following lines, I’ll delve into these eight personality traits that are often seen in those who struggle to feel truly happy in life. This exploration is not meant to judge or categorize, but rather to foster understanding and perhaps inspire some self-reflection.
1) Perfectionism hinders happiness
The pursuit of perfection can be a relentless and unforgiving path. Striving for an unattainable standard inevitably leads to disappointment and self-criticism.
Many people mistake perfectionism for a commendable dedication to excellence. However, it’s important to realize that these two things are not the same. Excellence is about doing your best while striving for perfection involves an unrealistic demand for perfection.
