Here Is Why Wealthy People Are More Likely to Be Narcissists, According to a New Study

It’s no secret that many wealthy people feel more entitled and even display traits of narcissism. A recent study found a reason for this.

Before our eyes, the world is changing around us. With each passing day, technology is advancing, and for some of us, so is our wealth.

How does it affect us as humans? Does it change who we are?

Over the years, psychological research has shown us that empathy for our brothers and sisters in life has taken a downward trend. Wealth and social media have caused us to lose our humanity for others and made us selfish.

To make a positive impact on the world, we must all maintain our compassion. Empathy leads us to trust and love, rise up against hate, and most importantly, make us happier individuals.

Since the invention of social media platforms, many things have changed. Lots of people are looking for the next big thing, and thus looking for the ultimate achievement of attention. However, they will stop at no cost to achieve such temporary rewards.

I’ve watched the culture of men and women change with social media.
In this age, men and women alike use the media to promote themselves with trendy status messages and consistent selfies. All of this is provided for a group of friends we probably haven’t met more often in our lives.

Popular trends that originated from the internet changed our world. Women started going half-naked because the world had given them the standard that flaunting their bodies and leaving no mystery behind was sexy. Men move their cars and money around to promote their self-worth.

People have become bold. We no longer have to put up with face-to-face interactions, so we can become something we are not. Every day we witness acts of violence, aggression, terrorism and hatred. The bad thing about this is that we now think it’s normal. We have become desensitized and our minds attuned to this madness.

Family gatherings have now turned into a group of people carrying their devices around the dinner table. They have been brainwashed into the social world where they can be people they are not and hide behind an innocent mask. What happened to our humanity!?

Have you noticed that a large percentage of the time, the wealthy feel more deserving than their lower-class peers?
A study by Paul K. Piff of the University of California, Berkeley, showed that wealth leads to us being narcissistic. His research concluded that higher social class people are more likely to act immorally, and are not more likely to donate to charity.

“The more money you have, the higher your status, the less the world threatens you. You can pay rent or own a house, you can be late for work without losing your monthly income, and your neighborhood is safer.”

In theory, owning these things determines that you don’t depend on people as much, which leads to not feeling like you owe anything to anyone. So this is why rich people show less sympathy for their less affluent peers and are more prone to unethical behavior.
