To be at the top of your game, in whatever field that may be, requires an enormous amount of self-confidence and belief in your abilities. But when does this self-confidence turn into narcissism and how does this consuming state affect the person who has it?
Some famous narcissists in the political arena believe they can conquer the world, and they set out to do so with devastating effects. Others in the music and movie industry can become so obsessed with themselves that they think they are more important than Jesus.

- Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great displayed all the characteristics of an angry narcissist. He assembled a huge army for one reason, to fulfill his personal ambitions. He thought you were either with him or against him and took his loyal soldiers into endless battles, at their expense, just for his personal glory and victories. He showed no emotion for the bloodshed of his generals or soldiers but believed in his great visions. - Henry VIII
Henry VIII was charismatic and handsome, but he was also one of the cruelest and most selfish leaders in our history. He was famous for having six wives, two of whom he beheaded, as well as for his vain quest to produce a son and heir to the throne for political reasons and vanity. He was known to display narcissistic traits such as a lack of empathy and an excessive concern for his appearance. - Napoleon Bonaparte
The term “Napoleon complex” comes from the behavior of Napoleon Bonaparte, who would act in an overly aggressive manner to compensate for feelings of inferiority and low self-esteem. Considered a tyrant by everyone who knew him, Napoleon had great ideas and believed himself to be someone special. In fact, he wrote in his book Thoughts:
“It was precisely that evening in Lodi that I came to believe in myself as an extraordinary person and became preoccupied with ambition to do great things which until then had only been a fantasy.”

Adolf Hitler, without a doubt one of the most brutal leaders of the 20th century, led a campaign that saw the deaths of millions of innocent people. His actions also sparked one of the biggest wars of our generation, all because of his deeply held beliefs that he, and all other white Germans, were a race superior to everyone else.
His actions are typical of a self-obsessed narcissist in that he shows no empathy for the suffering of others, spreading his false propaganda about superiority in order to further his campaign and demand complete satisfaction.

Miley Cyrus was once beloved by teens all over the world, but nowadays you’re more likely to see her semi-dressed, shaving off some raunchy videos to her latest single. Her decision to go wild and display bizarre behavior after her success with Disney shows a narcissistic side to her, as she craves maximum attention and will obviously do whatever it takes to get it. - Kim Kardashian
This lady became famous for leaking a sex tape, most likely of herself, and this proves that she will do anything to become famous and stay on top of the celebrity list. Kim is so obsessed with herself as her many selfies prove, she even published a self-portrait book titled “Selfish,” I wonder if she saw the irony. She has now amassed a multi-million dollar company, all based on herself, what more could a narcissist want? - Kanye West
Speaking of what Kim could want, the answer is probably Kanye West, a narcissist older than she is. Kanye staked his narcissistic claim by saying he was the next “Savior” or “Messiah” and even called himself “Yeezus.” He was severely criticized at one of his concerts when he demanded that everyone stand up to cheer him up, and he lashed out at a member of the audience who remained seated. Went to the person and saw they were in a wheelchair but didn’t offer an apology. Sounds like a toxic narcissist, right? - Mariah Carey
Known in the music industry as the biggest diva in show business, Mariah Carey epitomizes narcissism in ways Kanye West could only dream of. She travels with an entourage that could fill a jumbo jet, her demands when she performs are incredible, and she even travels with her own light. And these are just two examples of the singer’s narcissistic behaviour.
