There are some people who lie more than others. I guess you can call it pathological. Well, there are ways to find out, too.
They say that all of us lie at one point or another. I think that’s right. I know I can lie if I need to, but mostly to protect someone I love or when I feel like I’m in danger, you know, that kind of thing. But there are people who lie as easily as they breathe. In fact, if they can’t lie, I think they might explode.
Well, I guess I’m being a little dramatic, but I can let you in on another little secret about them. A liar sometimes believes his own lies too. Lies become a part of their lives and their opposing truths form into the lies they tell. It’s amazing to watch a liar in action, and if you know someone like this, you understand exactly what I’m talking about.
These are the liars in your life
Now, not everyone lies like that. People who lie as easily as they breathe are usually certain types of people. They stand out, usually with mental or personality disorders. But then there are those who hide and disguise their troubles very well. It can take years to discover their level of deranged behavior and the amount of lie they are telling. These are the people most likely to live a lie.
Psychopath
Do you know a mentally ill person? You probably don’t know what that is exactly. Well, a psychopath is not necessarily a violent person. A psychopath can be a charming person and lead a seemingly normal life. Unless you’re close to them, you’ll probably never suspect anything is off, but it’s quite the opposite.
The psychopath is one of the worst liars because everything they do is based on deception. They have little empathy and work their magic toward getting everything they desire at the cost of your safety or feelings. Lying is second nature to the psychopath, who would rather lie to gain an edge than tell the truth to help others.
extroverts
Ah, surprised right? Did you know that extroverts are more likely to lie than introverts? There is a fairly simple explanation for this. An extrovert is a social creature and most social interactions invite lies of some kind.
In fact, social events go a lot smoother when “little white lies” are told. Think about it, considering that extroverts are always around other people, and they have more opportunities to lie.
Social groups mean situations and situations mean more reasons to lie to save feelings and less confrontations. Some extroverts, given their environments, will begin to lie as easily as they breathe, and after some time they will also begin to believe the lies they tell.
It’s about status and it’s about peer pressure. These things can create monsters out of people who simply want to have a large number of friends. It’s a sad truth, but it’s the truth no less than that.
Narcissists
Perhaps unsurprisingly, a narcissist is prone to a significant amount of lying. Given that their personality traits are living for attention, lying, lacking empathy, and playing the blame game, it is in the nature of narcissists to do anything to retain a certain identity.
The reason narcissists struggle in these areas is the emptiness inside them. The narcissist’s true identity is buried so deeply that they have created a false life built around who they wished they could be.
They strive for attention in order to maintain this false identity, just as they lie and fail to empathize with others. When others start to see this facade, the narcissist will get angry and their lying will escalate. Unfortunately, most narcissists never change and will always be people who lie.
Sociopath
There are few differences between a psychopath and a sociopath, but there are differences. While the sociopath has little remorse for his actions and little sympathy, he has none. A psychopath can be easily charming while showing tantrums and outright disdain for others.
Although a sociopath may be easy to spot, their lies will be as frequent as ever. If you fail to piss them off, you will be fooled too. They live and breathe lies as long as they can maintain a calm demeanor. Otherwise, those pathological lies will melt away, and that’s okay.
The pathological liar
Sometimes, you don’t even have to be psychotic or a narcissist to live a life of perpetual lies. A pathological liar will appear just as normal as everyone else until you catch them in a lie. But no matter how hard you try, a pathological liar won’t admit to lying, and if you think it’s an isolated incident, think again.
Not only will a pathological liar deny the lie until their last breath, but they will also lie about anything and everything. Even when there is no reason to lie, they lie for fun. They really enjoy this and find it as difficult to tell the truth as it is to conquer the world.
youths
Did you know that young people are liable to lie at an alarming rate? If you think about it, it makes sense. Especially those who are in college, they are prone to lying easily and lying about things that don’t even matter. Statistics show that the older you get, the less likely you are to lie which also supports this theory.
So, who are they lying to? Well, young adults lie to their friends, but they tell bigger and more harmful lies to their families and loved ones.
Usually, this is used to get what they want in times of need or to stay out of trouble, which makes sense, considering the older you get, the more self-sufficient you become and the less need to lie.
sellers
Now, understanding this should be easy for most of us, but let me break it down for you in a more personal way. I’ve been in sales for many years – I sold beauty products, health products and intimate products as well. I learned to lie all the time in order to sell my products.
My bosses told me to say things like, “The product is the best and proven to work.” I was instructed to lie about how I used the product and how much I liked it, which in most cases I didn’t like and didn’t like the product.
Therefore, being a saleswoman, I lied every day. I also lied about why the prices were high and why there was such a high price for shipping and handling with every purchase. I lied and lied until I believed everything that came out of my mouth.
In the end, I stopped doing this kind of work, because I couldn’t lie to them anymore. Salesmen lie, sometimes as psychopaths, and sometimes they become those personalities and disorders.
