We all know someone who is apparently “too cool” for life itself. They act like they are above anything anyone likes, so much so that you wonder if they enjoy anything at all.
What is it like to love someone who will never love anything?
It may seem like you’re something special because you’re one of the very few things this person cares about. But unfortunately, this “too cool” attitude is a sign of dangerous narcissism, and the love she gives you will never be returned.

Here are 6 signs that you’re in love with someone who thinks they’re “too cool” for you:
- They talk down to you about anything related to art
God forbid you guiltily enjoy or genuinely enjoy Taylor Swift on occasion. The “pretty cool” guy is definitely above the pop mainstream. This therefore gives him the authority to act as if he has a PhD. In the history and theory of music.
Well, my friend, you’re listening to an indie playlist on Spotify and you just love bands that play Washboard. We got it.
- They act as if being with them is a privilege
Of all the people in the world he could spend time with (because he’s cool enough to FaceTime with anyone, right?), he chose you. You should thank Him for honoring you with the majestic aura of His presence. Bask in its glow and be thankful for it.
Or just find someone who loves you more than himself.

- They are always frustrated

- They act like they’re “helping” you, even if you don’t need to
The “super cool” person thinks they have all the answers. They will volunteer their opinions even when you don’t want or need them explicitly because they believe you are unable to handle them as well as they can.
If you come home after waxing your eyebrows and they suggest you wax your upper lip at the same time because it’s more convenient, that’s what I’m talking about. It’s like giving backhanded advice.

- They always act confused about what you want to do
A person who believes himself to be extremely rad cannot imagine a world in which what he engages in is not considered objectively the best.
“Oh, did you want to go see the new Avengers movie? Do you know one of the actors in it or something?”
This is the conversation that happens right before they try to drag you into an art gallery displaying sculptures about turnip emotions or some object.
- They do not talk to others behind their backs
Sometimes, your “too cool” friend has to remind himself of that fact. The easiest way to feel above everyone is to make sure everyone is below you.
