If you are the envy of a narcissist, the first thing you need to realize is that you are doing something right with your life.
Narcissists are never jealous of people whose lives are falling apart and who are not making a living for themselves.
They will not envy you if you are the one who is moving too slowly without the attention and success rate.
Narcissists envy anyone who exudes what they lack. What does that look like for you? You would be surprised at how closely they will look at you and find ways to envy what you have – from the material to the innate!
1 Kindness
You can’t buy kindness. If you could, it would be constantly on sale anyway, and I can also imagine the long line of narcissists at the store waiting to buy it in bulk until people find real value in their character.
Unfortunately for them, that is not possible.
The kindness you possess was not bought. It was not something you paid for, and it does not have an expiration date. It is something you own, have, and value. Do not use it to get attention or give it to others, with terms and conditions.

Your kindness is part of you, and that’s one of the main reasons they can’t stand it.
2 Your Success
What did you accomplish today? I can guarantee you – whatever it is – will make any narcissist lose sleep over it, simply because it wasn’t them.
Every time you succeed, they don’t succeed. They won’t even be able to muster up a “congratulations” for you, and if they do, it will be empty and insincere.
Narcissists can go even further and ask you questions about your success that minimize its significance or make you feel like you haven’t achieved the success you thought you had. Their attachment to your success is like an anchor that weighs you down.
3 Positivity
Never fail to see the bright side in everything, which is something you’re proud of. You work hard to achieve what you have, remain optimistic, and handle life’s difficulties well.
Narcissists are only happy for you when it’s related to them or benefits them in some way.
If they’re part of it, they’re part of something—and that’s all narcissists want—but if you’re positive and living your own life, their inflated ego won’t want others to be happy unless it’s because of something you’ve done for them.
4 Your Ability to Love
Love is something that should come naturally to all of us, right?
Unfortunately, the answer is actually wrong.
Narcissists think they can love, but instead of time, affection, and care, love will look like giving money directly or paying for lavish things like vacations or meals out.
What happens next?
They’ll hold you accountable for it as soon as they get the chance, and that’s not love. Your true ability to love unconditionally is something they wish they had inside of them, but part of NPD is the inability to live up to this trait.
5 Your Generosity
Why do you give it all away? Your time, charity, volunteering, helping your community.
You present in a way that doesn’t even consider you a problem or something that can be used against your character, but to the narcissist, you are everything they hate about humanity.
They want to be generous, and they may reciprocate your generosity with more giving (usually something easy and quick that they can give, like money) to make themselves look better than you. Ultimately, that’s all they want—to be better than you.
6 The Way You Shine
Sometimes, some people just need to walk into a room to shine. You can radiate a natural glow and warmth, and a genuine smile can go a long way. This is because the people who see you believe in your radiance. It’s not something you buy or pretend to have.
This infuriates the narcissist—why would they tolerate you getting all of their attention, even if it wasn’t your intention?
If you shine, they’re in the dark, which makes them envious until they force you to change the dynamic, putting them in the spotlight.
7 Your Intelligence
Narcissists love to be at their wit’s end. Being at their wit’s end means that there’s no room for anyone else to be as smart or smart as them. It’s kind of like a sports league, and they’re the team that has to win every game, every season.

To narcissists, intelligence is a sign that they know more than you. They love to impress and genuinely wow people because they know so much about so much.
8 Sense of Humor
If you make people laugh, what role does the narcissist play? They don’t have the right to feel marginalized every time you make the people around you laugh out loud, and yet they’ll inevitably conclude that you’re a great and fun person.
If you’re fun to be around, the narcissist isn’t. They wish they had your enthusiasm, but the truth is, they don’t even have a spark.
9 Something You Have That They Want
Did you recently get a new car or buy a house? Maybe you invested in a great, unforgettable vacation. Whatever you have and they want, you can be sure that they will see nothing but envy when they look at you.
I work hard, why them and not me?
How dare they brag like that?
Look at them showing off their stupid new car.
They won’t hesitate to do it because their insecurities can’t stop them from doing so.
Don’t even be surprised if they try to sabotage what you have so that you can’t fully enjoy it. The surest ways to diminish your good news will be their way of trying to bring you down to their level.
10 Money, Money, Money
Narcissists love to make money and show off because they believe their status is determined by what they earn and what they do with the money. You’ll often see them brag about what they have because, to them, it’s the equivalent of a show.
Think about Scrooge and how he likes to count his money, giving very little to others in return unless he has conditions that are almost impossible to meet.
If you have money, they will see you as a competitor. Narcissists hate competition.
