10 Signs You Are Smarter Than People Think

Before you sell yourself short, think twice. Despite what they say, you are smarter than people think. There are signs to prove this.

Have you ever thought that you are smarter than people think? You can actually be smarter than you give yourself credit for, too.

The truly smart ones are the ones who question themselves. On the other hand, those who think they know everything never stop asking many questions, now do they?

You are smarter than people think

It is an internal struggle and torment that makes us question our own minds. And with these questions, we remain quiet, afraid to share knowledge and offer insight.

Some of us will never speak up because we’re afraid of looking stupid. We’re probably not stupid at all. guess what? You may actually be smarter than you think.

Some may see you as a normal or average person. They may even assume that your IQ is not that high. But here are some signs that you are smarter than people think.

  1. You are curious
When you think of the word “curious,” you probably think of someone who asks a lot of questions, is curious, or listens to conversations. Just because you want to know things doesn’t always mean you get into other people’s business.

No, curious people do that, and it doesn’t mean they’re not smart. This means the opposite. Curiosity is the mind that searches for more information. Sometimes, you genuinely want to learn new things. Although there are curious people who have no desire for good, not all curious people fall into this category.

  1. You are somewhat introverted
There is a misconception that introverted people may not be that smart. Well, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, introverts feel confident doing many things on their own. This includes eating alone in restaurants, reading at home, and sitting in silence.

Unlike many other people who cram their schedules to always be around people, introverts feel comfortable spending free time. So, if you are an introvert and like to be alone, you are probably very smart.

  1. High level of self-awareness
How self-aware are you? I mean, obviously you exist, but that’s not what I mean. Self-awareness is the ability to understand your strengths, weaknesses, emotions and motivations. If you have a strong sense of who you are, you are aware of your intellectual limitations.

This makes you humble, and therefore smarter. However, others may not be aware of how smart you really are, and that’s okay. This is also strength.

  1. Don’t mind ambiguity
Not everything has a clear answer, and that drives most people crazy. Yes, mostly, we want to know how to do something and we want all the details. But the most intelligent among us can handle ambiguity and explore creativity within this state of being.

Let’s say you’re at work and you receive vague details about a task you need to do. Are you panicking, or are you simply figuring it out on your own? If you can pivot well in your uncertain circumstances and remain at peace, you are smarter than people think.

  1. You don’t follow trends
While it may seem smart to keep up with the latest trends, it doesn’t actually measure your intelligence. Even though influencers make large sums of money by doing this, it doesn’t make them smarter. In fact, identifying trends is more of an indicator of intelligence than following them.

If you didn’t like the skinny jeans craze or never felt pressured to wear pearls last year, you’re comfortable being yourself. That’s my take on it, anyway. You’ll find that the smartest people gravitate towards classic styles and fashions when they’re not creating their own.

  1. You are extroverted

Settling in your ways may seem honorable. And yes, this has been me many times. However, being more open-minded means a healthier brain.

You are smarter than people think when you can see different points of view and have a high tolerance for differences. You are able to think other thoughts that starkly contradict your own, and these thoughts do not offend you either.

  1. You are a cat person
This may be a bit questionable, but it is a common assumption. More introverted people seem to have cats as pets, while more extroverted people prefer dogs. What have we learned about introverts?

Well, considering that introverts tend to be very intelligent, this makes perfect sense. Is this correct? Do cat owners have greater intelligence?

After surveying more than 600 college students, researchers found that cat lovers score higher on intelligence tests. They analyzed the results at the Association for Psychological Science. The researchers also found that cat owners are more extroverted and introverted.

  1. You’re a mess
Accuracy does not always equal intelligence. I’m sure this was an assumption before. If you are messy or disorganized, you are probably smarter than people think. You see, when you focus on tasks; You realize that cleanliness is not a top priority.

Take Einstein for example. In those photos of him, you can clearly see a very disorganized office and surroundings. So, don’t be too hard on yourself for being late to organizing. It is possible that your mind is working at full capacity.

  1. You are funny
Smart people tend to have a good sense of humor. They can quickly and easily come up with jokes to make others laugh. Sometimes they don’t even have to think of a joke. They just say the first thing that comes to mind, and a lot of times it’s funny.

Even though you may be an introvert, you still have an ingrained sense of good verbal communication, which is weird. With this ability to communicate verbally, you are naturally cheerful and smarter than people think.

  1. You are intuitive
Intuition can sometimes be stronger than other forms of intelligence. Being able to know that something is wrong is a great survival tactic. If you have great intuition, you are more in tune with the feelings of others around you.

It also means that you can help people quickly and form strong relationships with others. Even if you’re not really a people person, your intuition will prompt you to help when needed.
